Budhi Gandaki Hydro power Project

The Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project is a storage-type venture situated in the Central/Western Development region along the Budhi Gandaki River in Nepal. Its conceptualization dates back to the late 70s when it was identified as part of the Gandaki Basin Study. In 1984, a prefeasibility study for the project was conducted. The ongoing feasibility study has recommended the development of a 1200 MW capacity plant with a Full Supply Level (FSL) set at 540 masl. The project spans across various regions, contributing to its overall impact:

Gorkha: 2,700 km2
Dhading: 900 km2
Nuwakot: 35 km2
China: 1,365 km2
This accumulates to a total area of 5,000 km2. The project holds significant potential in harnessing the hydroelectric resources of the Budhi Gandaki River for the region's sustainable development.
